My 2013 Story - Paris & Getting Engaged

Paris

As we had loved the hotel we stayed at the last time we visited Paris, we decided to book again. It is the most beautiful hotel just off of the Champs Elysee's, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Our whole weekend consisted of walking, climbing and enjoying every single view!

We wanted to see everything, and with very sore and achy feet, we made sure we did.

Here are a few snaps of my favorite places

The Sacre Coeur
The lovers lock bridge

The evening Glenn proposed

Obviously everyone who loves Paris also loves the world famous Eiffel Tower, and this was no exception for me. The second i saw it during our first visit i fell in love. It is truly beautiful, and on the 7th July 2013 at midnight Glenn took me to the very top, and while i was holding a beautiful red rose, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Hours Before He Proposed

This was the most amazing weekend of my life and i wouldn't change a second of it

My 2013 Story - Bruges & Lille

Choosing A Summer Holiday
In July 2013 Glenn and decided we didn't want to do the usual thing for our summer holiday. Agreed, laying on a beach catching a tan, jet skiing in the sea and hiring a speed boat was very tempting, but we had done it all before and this year we wanted to do something different. So with a little (not very much at all) thought, we decided to go on what I like to call our little euro trip!

We always knew we wanted to go back to Paris after visiting the beautiful city the previous September. The city has so much charisma and history, and not to mention the amazing views from the top of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de triumph and the Sacré-Coeur. However, we also knew that we wanted to see somewhere new as well. So after a few days on Google and Trip Advisor we made the decision to visit Bruges and Lille on the way!

First Stop - Bruges

Our Visit to Bruges was beautiful. We stayed for 1 night, which gave us plenty of time to explore, climb the Belfry Tower and enjoy an evening of dinner and drinks with some great entertainment.

The Belfry was a fab experience with great views, but the most impressive part for me was the carillon bell exhibit.

As Belgian is very well known for its chocolate it was inevitable that we would pass a lot of shops like the one below...

We found a very impressive looking bar called The Beer Wall which stocked a huge variety of Belgium beers. We choose two different flavours, found a nice spot on the terrace (with very comfortable beanbags for seats) and enjoyed our drinks over looking the beautiful views one of the many canals.

Overall our trip to Bruges was brilliant - Even if I did have Glenn making quotes from "In Brugge" the whole day!

Second Stop - Lille
When researching Lille we found that there wasn't a huge amount to do, so instead we decided not to stay the night but just enjoy a few hours in the area.We found a free zoo (thanks to a good friend) and a gorgeous little water fountain in the middle of the town.

Next Stop... Paris!
